Your Body Is A Temple

“Don’t you realize that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?  You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price.  So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

We all need to realize that our body is not our own, a lot of times in this world now, you hear people talk about how it’s their body and they can do with it as they please, but that’s not true our body belongs to God, and always remember the high price God bought us with, His son, Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, for our sins so that we could be forgiven of those sins.  So, respect your temple and treat it just as that.

Be Ready For The Master To Use You

“In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay.  The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the expensive ones are for everyday use.  If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.”  2 Timothy 2:20-21

Sling Review

Now that baby Ethan has been home from the hospital for a while now and we’ve gotten back into our “normal” daily routine, I realized that I was going to have to do something if I ever wanted to be able to do anything with two hands again because, either I was busy doing something with the kids, doing some type of cleaning or something else on my busy list was needing to be done all while holding the baby, there’s just no way to not do it without having pure chaos and a horrible looking house, so I had remembered that a while back I had gotten some things in the mail for a discount on baby items, one of these being a sling and I thought that would be great to have and I looked up their website and decided to go ahead and order one.  I measured the size I would need and placed my order, it actually came a bit faster than I had thought it would and once I got it in I was so excited to use it.  It took a little time to figure out at first but once I got it, I absolutely loved it!  I now use this thing all the time; I can get everything done that I need to all while having a happy baby.  I was even able to go grocery shopping the other day with all 4 kids by myself and to my surprise it was a breeze!  I just had to share this sling with you guys.

The brand is Seven Everyday Slings, and from what I’ve seen, you can almost always get them for a great discount, mine was originally $45 and I got it for $15, how awesome is that!  If you go to your website there are tons of different styles and colors you can choose from, the one I got was called pivot and it’s so cute.  They also show you all different ways to wear your baby; it’s not just for newborns.  At first I was a bit skeptical of how comfortable I would be without still holding Ethan with one hand while he’s in the sling, but after wearing it and seeing how snug he is in this thing I know he’s not going anywhere and I feel completely comfortable doing everything I normally do with him in it, and he stays quite comfortable too, the second I put him in it he falls fast asleep.  So, if any of you are looking for a good sling this one is great, it’s even for when they get a bit older as well, I tried it on with Isabelle the other day just to see how it would be with her in it and it was pretty comfortable that way as well, but at the time all she wanted to play so I didn’t wear her in it for long.

***I’m in no way affiliated with seven everyday slings, I only own the product and really enjoy it***

Delicious Protein Shake!

I wanted to share a yummy recipe for a protein shake that I have every single night it is so good, and honestly to me it tastes more like a peanut butter pie so it’s like having a desert every single night and best of all it’s really healthy and keeps you feeling full all night!

Peanut butter banana protein smoothie

  • 1 banana
  • 2 scoops of your favorite protein powder (I use vanilla)
  • 2 large scoops of natural peanut butter
  • 1 C. almond milk

Just blend together and serve nice and cold!

One tip though, don’t try to put a whole frozen banana in your food processor, I did that and the blade snapped off and I had to get a new one!

Amazing Love!

“We love because he first loved us.”  1 John 4:19

His love is the greatest love there is, and we love because of that!  As you go about your day today, just think of how much Christ loves us and what he did for us, make sure to share some of His love with others so that they may see Him through you!

Need More Storage?

Are you always needing more storage space?  Well, we sure are and recently Justin and I were able to use an empty space in our home for extra storage!  With 6 people living under one roof there’s always so much stuff, and I’m sure many of you can relate.  So, what did we do?  We used an empty HVAC space in our home, we got a new air unit last year and so now we had this really big space in our laundry room that was being used for absolutely nothing, all while we were constantly having issues keeping all of our stuff out of the way, even after going through just about everything we own and getting rid of a ton of stuff (I’ll post about that later).  We had to do something and since it was going to be a little while until we’re able to get a storage building we had to work with what we’ve got.

So, we……. Ok, mostly Justin got to work knocking out the rest of the drywall to open it up fully and we bought some shelving which you can get really inexpensively at most hardware stores, we got ours from Lowes and got to work on making our space, and now we’ve got a lot of extra space to put lots of things mostly the stuff that just seems to collect at our house, and at the moment the majority of that is books (that’s what you get with homeschoolers), and art supplies, purses, and diaper bags, holiday decorations, and some storage bins that needed to find a home.

Now, I know that not everyone has an empty space where your HVAC used to go, but if you really think about it hard I’m sure you could find some extra space you never knew you had.  Is there extra space in your closet somewhere, or maybe just a couple shelves in your child’s rooms?  We actually put up 4 shelves in Jeremiah’s room last year and they have been great for holding tons of things especially toys that go into bins like legos, Lincoln logs, and tinker toys that used to always end up spread all over the place every single day by the little one’s who weren’t even interested in playing with them.

How do you find room for all of your stuff?  Did this post help you out?  Let me know how you choose to organize it all!

C Is For Cow!

This week in our homeschool we have been learning about cows this has been a really fun………. and really yummy unit to do.  I wanted to share with you what we made today.

We made butter and it turned out great, at first I had my suspicions and started to wonder if I had done it wrong but after we kept going we saw the changes that were supposed to be happening and then it got really exciting.  The kids loved making their own butter!  Here are the steps:

First off, pour your whipping cream into a container most things suggest a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid but these plastic containers were far less expensive and worked very well although if I would have gotten something with a screw on lid it would work better for the younger one’s I had to help Caidence when she shook it. Then find an adorable volunteer shaker or two and start shaking!

After you shake it for about 15 minutes you will start to see whipped cream like this:

After that, if you’re like we were the kids will be totally tired of shaking and want to start to see some butter, so we ended up pulling out our food processor to move the process along a little bit we just used the regular chopping blade

Let it mix for a minute and it started to take shape and look like this:

Finally, we decided to separate the butter milk from the butter and then add the milk back to the food processor to smooth it out a bit more:

Then comes the most fun of all you get to serve it up and eat it:

….. I wonder if it tastes better with a cute smile like this!

Some other things you may want to teach your child along with this would be to let them know that milk helps them grow just as God’s word helps them to grow spiritually, read the bible with them everyday and if they’re old enough to read the bible themselves give them a journal to write down what they have read and how it speaks to them and how they can use it in their everyday lives. Here’s a verse for you as well.

“You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. Cry out for this nourishment as a baby cries for milk” 1 Peter 2:2

* For those of you wondering, the food processor that I use is a black & decker FP1600B it holds 8 cups, it works so great, I’ve had it for a couple of years, I use it all the time and it works just as great as it did when I first got it.

Resourceful Tip

I know that part of this blog is about being resourceful, and I haven’t put up too many things but here is one thing that we do that really helps us out, especially during the summertime with our vegetable garden and saving on our water bill.

We got some rain collection barrels, we just got two huge industrial sized barrels that come with sealing lids and whenever it’s going to rain we take the lids off and let the rain collect and once it’s stopped we put them back on so the rain doesn’t evaporate.  This saves us a ton of money on our water bill when we have our summer vegetable garden, we never have to use water other than from the barrels.

We just use a bucket to scoop water from the barrels to pour onto the garden, but you can also cut a hole in the bottom of the barrels and put a spout that can be connected to your water hose for easier use, we just haven’t done this yet not sure if we will this year or not.  Just thought I would share this little tip with you!

Special Dinners!

Do you guys have special family nights?  Nights where you do something special together as a family?  We have never set out any “special” nights for doing certain things, we just play together as a family whenever, but we had never really done any extra special out of the ordinary things as a family on any certain night but Jeremiah actually got me thinking.

The other night he came out to the living room some play time with his sisters carrying a huge blanket draped over his shoulder when I called them for dinner.  I was wondering what in the world was on his mind and why he was carrying the blanket in, and he said “we’re all going to sit and have a picnic dinner!”  I absolutely loved this idea of his, we had done a picnic outside several times during the summer but we had never had a picnic in the house and never at dinner time, dinner time is eaten at the table almost all of the time never as a picnic in the floor.  I am so thankful Jeremiah had this wonderful idea it was so much fun to be able to all sit close together and just have fun something about being on the blanket in the floor just made it different than sitting together at the table.  While we ate Justin read the kids a few bible stories and we all talked about what the story said and enjoyed listening to the kids it was an out of the ordinary thing to do for us, but it was great!

I know it may not seem like a big deal or it may not seem like it would be much fun but it really was and now I think that we’ll try to do this one night a week maybe we’ll play some fun games after we eat as well other than our normal playtime.  Maybe you guys would like to give this a shot or something else that’s really fun but not normal for your family.  I can’t wait to see the smile on the kids faces when me and Justin are the one’s to pull out the big blanket to have a picnic dinner together again, I just know they’re going to be so excited.

What are some fun family night things you do with your kids?  Any ideas to share I would love to hear them, just comment below and let me know!

Do You Memorize Scripture?

In your homeschool (or even if you don’t homeschool) do you get your children to memorize scripture? I think doing this is a wonderful thing that will help them out in all of life, they will have the Lord’s word in their hearts always and no one will be able to take that from them.

We try to learn 2 scriptures per week and we’ve just recently started this back up.  I’ll admit, it’s just as good for me as it is for them I don’t have scripture memorized like I would like to so this helps me know and learn it as well.

I also wanted to share with you a new bible we’ve been reading, we actually received it as a gift and we have been reading it morning and night the kids love it as do I. This bible storybook puts the bible in a wonderful way that kids can understand and learn the bible in a whole new way. The name of it is the Jesus storybook bible:

I have never read a bible story book for children quite like this one and it’s so hard to put it down this has become a favorite in our house for sure, so if you’re looking for a great bible for your younger children I highly recommend this one.  I also want to encourage you to start teaching your children scripture and helping them and yourself to memorize them.

Do you have a favorite bible story book?  Do you already get your child and yourself to memorize scripture, if so what are some ways that you memorize it?  Any fun games for memorizing?  If so, comment below and let me know!
