How do you respond when people say to you, “my you have your hands full”?  I get that comment many, many times.  Some people (mostly other mothers) say this because they truly understand what it takes to have children especially with us having 4 children.  But, others say that while they look at you like wow, you must be crazy to have that many children which is ok, because they unlike the other mothers don’t understand.

But no matter who the one making the comment is, I usually always respond with the same thing I always say, “yes”, then give a nice smile and then add “but I love every second of it”.  Then, pretty much every single time I always wonder, did I answer it in a good way, did I answer it in a way that will show them that just because I do “have my hands full” doesn’t mean that I don’t have a wonderful life, it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it, and it certainly doesn’t mean that if I had the chance that I would ever change it for the world.  Then, after I question that I always reflect on how truly blessed I really am.  God has given me the most wonderful husband that anyone could ever ask for who lovingly provides for our family, but He also on top of that blessed the both of us with 4 amazing children and He allowed us to have them, He allowed us to be able to raise these wonderful children and to love on them every single day.  And, no matter how full my hands may be, no matter how our day turned out, none of that matters because at the end of the day I realize how truly blessed we really are.

Do you get that comment a lot as well?  How do you respond?  Comment below and let me know! 🙂

In The Beginning

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” Genesis 1:1-2

I wanted to share this verse with you today because it may seem like a simple verse, we all know that God did create the earth but just take a moment to really and truly think about what this verse means.  Our God, the one and only God created something out of nothing!  We could never do that, no matter how hard we try, we could never just have absolutely nothing and create something from it, but, God did.  So, when you get discouraged and think that your problems are too big for God, just remember He created this beautiful world we live in out of absolutely nothing!  No problem is too big for Him.

Check Out This Site!!!

Or anyone with kids for that matter, I have just discovered an awesome site, and I may be the only one who hasn’t discovered it, and if that’s the case I’m sorry 🙂  but, I saw this and just had to share it with you.

Well, I knew all about the answers in Genesis web site for adults, but I’ll be honest, I haven’t even visited it…………. yet, but the other day in our homeschool fun we were learning about penguins and I went searching for a fun game or video to help further teach about penguins and their habitat, but every single thing I came upon talked all about evolution which I was of course not okay with, until I stumbled upon this:

There’s an answers in Genesis for children, now as I said before maybe I’ve just been living under a rock and am the only one who didn’t know this existed, but all the things I’ve heard about and I never knew about the kids section.

But, anyway this site is so awesome!  They have fun activities, and worksheets, they have videos telling you about all kinds of interesting things including why evolution couldn’t have happened on a child’s level of understanding, and many more things.

I hope you all get a chance to check out this site, tell me what you think of it.  Do you know of any other sites that teach from a creationists point of view?  Comment below and let me know.

Tip #3 Being An Intentional Mommy

For tip #3 I wanted to focus on what we do with our time, as mothers, our time is spent many places we have to make meals every day and for a lot of stay at home moms that includes all 3 meals a day, we have to clean and keep the household running smoothly, for us homeschoolers we have to do school everyday, we have to entertain our children, we have to make sure to take some time for ourselves so that we don’t get burnt out, we have to make sure to take time for our marriage, the list goes on and on.  But, for this week let’s just make sure that we are spending enough time in the area of spending time with our children, good, quality time.  This way, we can learn to be intentional with our time.

This means that we need to cut off the computer, turn off your phones, get rid of any distractions, make sure that you’ve already taken care of things that would normally get in the way of this time and focus on them for the day.  Try to make as much of the day all about them as you can, I know that this one will be difficult, because we do have daily duties that will try to get in the way but, with this one if you prepare ahead of time it is possible and it wouldn’t be out of the question to make one day every two weeks or so where you do nothing but spend time with them doing what they want to do no distractions all day long.

For those days that you don’t have an entire day, do make sure that you are taking at least 10 minutes for every hour of the day to spend that intentional time with them with no distractions as well.

You Have To Read This Book!

I have just started reading this book, it’s called “Raising kids for true greatness”  By: Dr. Tim Kimmel and I absolutely love it so far…………….. yes, so far, I haven’t even finished it yet, but I just started it a couple days ago and I just have to share it with all of you.

Usually with books like this, I really want to read them and intend to but I never get to it, but I’ve started making myself read again because I really, really, really love to read so I decided that I’m going to read one book a month since with 4 kids that’s what’s doable right now 🙂 and this was the first one I picked out to start reading and I’m so glad I did.

I won’t go into too much detail of it yet so you can have a chance to get it for yourself if you choose to, but I will do a post on it later once I’ve finished it completely and give you more details.  But, the gist of it is talking about raising your children to have more than just earthly success, but raising them to be truly great and in that be truly great for the Kingdom of God. so, grab a copy of this and let it change your views of success for your child!  🙂

raising kids for true greatness

The Lord…

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23

Sufficient Grace

A friend shared this verse with me a couple of days ago, and it has really helped me over the past couple of days in a situation we’re currently going through, so I thought I would share it with you guys and hopefully it could speak to you as well.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.'” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Tip #2 Being An Intentional Mommy

This tip should come after the prayer and this is when we can either trust God to give us the wisdom and patience to do what we should in disciplining our children or we could choose to go our own way and disregard Him.  So, after you pray you need to make yourself think before you speak or act:

Usually how my days are they start out wonderfully and then the kids all start to come out of their rooms everyone is being so sweet, cute and loving,  and then for some reason breakfast time brings out the worst in them and the arguments start “mama, she’s too close to me.”  “stop looking at me.”  “This isn’t what I wanted for breakfast” and the list goes on and on, now I could choose to do one of two things, I could think about what’s going on, I could choose to think out my actions before I open my mouth to discipline and I could be calm and gentle with my children as the bible wants me to do “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 or, I could choose to do it my way, choose the way of the flesh which in turn causes me to sin as well, and loose my cool, get angry, and most likely make the rest of the day stressful.  Now, they aren’t all this way and most of the time even when they are like this as soon as everyone cleans up from breakfast and our day starts going they soon realize how much we all love each other and they start showing that love and start helping one another out and caring for one another but at this point if I chose to go my own way, my attitude is out of check and I let myself get in the way of us having a good day.  But, if I chose to first go to the Lord in prayer, do what He has to say and continue to think before I speak or act we usually have a really great day.

That’s not to say that there aren’t a ton of more arguments and that’s also not to say that your children won’t still be disobedient but, if you make sure to be intentional and follow these tips, it is so much easier to deal with and you can soon go on with your day with a great attitude.
