It’s Co-op day!!

Yes, the day is finally here, and I am so excited for this day, the day we start our new co-op classes, this year we chose to go with a group that catered more to younger children like my kiddos, they are super excited, we are sad that we’re having to leave some friends behind but, we can still always catch up during playdates, but they are also so excited to be meeting new friends and reconnecting with some old friends we have before our co-op split into three different groups (gotta love that the numbers of homeschoolers grows so much you have to make more groups!!!)

I can’t wait to meet all the new moms too, it’s so nice to be able to have what we call “mom time” and just sit and chat with other moms for a whole hour every other week! Such a great refresher! I’m also LOVING the classes we have this year, for Jeremiah he gets to go to a Lego class.. super fun right? He’s so into building with Legos right now and loves using his imagination to make new things. He’s also doing a class called “stand up and talk” it’s a public speaking/show and tell type of class I get to help teach that one and can’t wait to see all those sweet kiddos telling us about all sorts of things.

Caidence gets to go to an Adventures in the Bible class.. how awesome does that sound! It’s going to go in depth into lots of stories and people of the Bible! Then, she also gets to go to a Magic School Bus class where they watch episodes of The Magic School Bus and learn all about the topic of the show!

Then, Ethan and Isabelle get to have fun playing with their friends in the nursery, they’re going to love that getting to play with friends for 2 hours… OH YEAH!!

So tell me, what’s your co-op like? What classes do you have? Is it focused learning or just for play? I would love to hear all about it, just comment below!

Also, let me know, what type of post do you want to see from me? I would love some feedback so I can get some posts up that you would love!

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’  ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,  and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one.  Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” Mark 10:6-9

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

I absolutely love this verse, in fact, right now my husband has this as the signature of his text messages, we both do this, we pick a verse that we love or that has recently spoken something to us, for one so that we can see it but also so when we send a text to someone they either know that scripture or could look it up and get something from it as well, what are some ways you like to use to get God’s word out there?

What Love Is…

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Homeschool Fun, The Octopus!

This week in our homeschool we have been learning about the octopus and other ocean animals, we’ve been able to do several fun activities, and have a few more still left to do, but, I just wanted to share a few of them with you.  One of our activities included making an ocean mural and anytime you bring out anything messy in this house the kids get thrilled!!  But it actually ended up not even being any bit of a mess at all.  We used some finger paints and SAND!!

I have never pulled out sand during arts and crafts time before but I do have to say we may do it more often because, it was a hit!

We also made an octopus hot dog which was so cute and the kids loved getting to eat them.  They were the cutest things ever!  What we did was take a hot dog weenie and cut the bottom portion in half, then in half again, and once more to make 8 legs (great math lesson by the way).  Make sure you use a sharp knife though because as you cut more it gets harder and harder to make good cuts so use a sharp one or else you’ll cut off a leg.  After you cut it, boil it in some water for just a couple of minutes and watch as the legs curl up to look just like octopus legs, and then the kids requested I cut eyes and a smile for the octopus and then enjoy eating them (who doesn’t love a snack during school time!!)

Every week we have a biblical concept that goes along with whatever it is we are learning, and this week our biblical concept was “Even the octopus praises the Lord”  and that comes from Psalm 69:34 “Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and all that move in them.”  So, we learned all about praising the Lord and all the ways we can show praise to Him, to go along with the number 8 which we also learned I had Jeremiah name 8 ways we can praise God, ask this to your children, and I’m sure their answers will surprise you, they know so much more than we give them credit for! We made a tambourine to use to praise the lord out of two paper plates they decorated and some rice in the center although I would recommend using a stapler instead of glue, because even with rubber cement the plates came apart.

One other activity our curriculum says to try out which we may is taking a glass of water using black watercolor paint to show how the octopus uses ink to hide from predators I thought this would be really great for those who learn visually!

What have you been up to in your homeschool, do you have certain things you study each week, or do you teach some other way?  I would love to hear all about the adventures in your homeschool!  Comment below!

Wonderful Blessings

“Children are a blessing from the Lord” Psalm 127:3  I love this verse, we all need to take the time and thank God for His blessings, and make sure to look at your children as blessings from Him, I know sometimes with all we go through in a day we can forget this but children truly are a blessing and we need to cherish them every single day.
